A Christmas Concert bought to you by The Kidderminster Male Choir & Kidderminster Valentines.
KIDDERMINSTER MALE CHOIR
Kidderminster Male Choir CentenaryKidderminster Male Choir dates back more than a century, having been formed in 1904. Our one hundredth birthday was celebrated with a sensational sell out concert at Birmingham’s prestigious Symphony Hall. Other British venues where we have performed include the Royal Albert Hall, London, Millennium Stadium and St David’s Hall, Cardiff and the Alexandra Theater in Birmingham.
Currently we have the privilege of rehearsing in St Mary’s Church Kidderminster, and each year we make use of the excellent facilities of Kidderminster Town Hall to perform a variety of seasonal style concerts. Throughout our long history we have entertained audiences not only in the West Midlands but throughout the United Kingdom and Abroad. We also participate in joint concerts, weddings etc., plus consider many other formal and informal functions requesting our support.
As a charitable organisation, we attempt to support others in the community with their charity work. We run concerts to improve fundraising for selected, specific charities each year. Our last major attempt at fund raising via a CD, was for the British Heart Foundation.
We are most fortunate to have various long term sponsors who support us financially and we are most grateful for this.
Kidderminster Valentines celebrate their Thirty-First Anniversary in 2019 and now number over fifty voices.
The choir’s repertoire is varied and wide ranging and while the vocal and technical skills of its members are constantly developing, the music is drawn from many areas and styles, from Beethoven to ladies barbershop, from Mozart to Musicals. This is one of the main reasons for the choir’s popularity at events ranging from their own concerts to events including weddings, church functions, seasonal celebrations and joint concerts with other choirs and artists.
The Valentines’ sound differs from that of other female voice choirs, the emphasis being on consistently rich, full bodied mellow four part harmonies produced by voices covering a wide age range.
The choir is immensely proud to have Sir Tim Rice and the broadcaster Peter Tomlinson as patrons of the choir.
